- Avoid storing the same things in multiple places. 2 places OK but 5 no way. The obvious exception is toilet paper. If you have 5 bathrooms, each bathroom needs toilet paper so please store extra in each bathroom.
- Put like kind things together. This will also save you time finding it and also save you money because you won’t constantly rebuy, because you don’t know how much you actually have.
- Labeling can be a big help. I have used labeling to assist clients keep their kitchen drawers organized. Create labels with brief descriptions of what is stored in that drawer. Such as “Food Storage Containers”, “Placemats and Napkins”, or “Baking supplies”.
- Keep track of items on automatic re-order. If you don’t use up as fast as they send, or happen to go on vacation, product can quickly overwhelm your storage spaces.
- Understand which organizing style you prefer in each area of your life and organize accordingly. Everything will be easier to keep organized when your organizing and container styles are in sink with you.
